The Seasons

East - Spring Equinox, March 21:

Spring represents the childhood/youth season of our lives. From infants, we progress to young childhood, then into our youth . From there we progress into young adulthood, the season of summer.

South - Summer Solstice, June 21:

As young adults, we begin to establish families. As our children grow older and they become parents, we move into the Autumn or 'harvest' time of our life, as we become grandparents.

Autumn Equinox - September 23:

As young grandparents, we enjoy our grandchildren. As the circle of life turns, they in turn become parents and we become great-grandparents.

Winter Solstice - December 23:

Traditionally, the age of great-grandparenthood was when one would be recognized as an Elder, defined by the role of passing cultural knowledge to the next generation and sharing the wisdom of their years.
