Medicine Wheel locations

Medicine Wheels are found scattered throughout Southern Alberta, Sask., and the U.S.A., with the majority being found in S. Alberta.

Some have been dated as far back as 7500 years.

It has been determined that they were used as calendars and for astronomical purposes. Medicine Wheels in Moose Mountain, Sask., and Big Horn, Wyoming, marked the time of the summer solstice, when important ceremonial events traditionally took place.

Today, the Medicine Wheel provides a direct link to our indigenous forefathers, and their way of living in harmony and respect with the earth. An ancient symbol reflecting the importance of maintaining balance, as each aspect of the circle contributes towards the well-being of the 'whole' community of life.
